Insured Losses From Maui Fire At Least $1 Billion

  • At least 99 people have been confirmed dead from the wildfires, and the number could double over the next 10 days according to Governor Josh Green. Hundreds of people are still missing.

  • According to a report from Moody's Investors' Service on Tuesday, at least $1 billion has been estimated in insured losses for the Hawaiian island.
  • Data from The Pacific Disaster Center and FEMA report that over two thousand structures have been damaged or destroyed and 27 hundred have at least been exposed.
  • The losses are said to primarily impact "property and casualty insurers."
