Natural Gas Leak Causes Evacuations at USC Campus

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A natural gas leak at a construction site prompted an evacuation of two USC campus buildings Friday, but no injuries were immediately reported.

The gas was leaking from an eight-inch pipeline that ruptured at the construction site in the 1000 block of Downey Way, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

There was no fire and no injuries reported, Humphrey said. An unknown number of people were evacuated from two campus buildings while crews worked to cap the leak.
