A bomb threat in Azusa today prompted authorities to route traffic away from a commercial area while an investigation was conducted. The bomb threat was reported at some time before 10 a.m. at a Target store at Azusa Avenue and Ninth Street, near the Azusa Intermodal Transit Center, according to Foothill Transit.

Authorities closed the transit center for Lines 185, 187, 188 and 280, and travelers were advised to use a temporary stop on San Gabriel Avenue, Foothill Transit reported.  The Azusa Police Department announced that it had closed an area including Azusa and San Gabriel avenues between Foothill Boulevard and Ninth Street for ``police activity,'' but did not release other details.

About 10:45 a.m., the transit center was reopened, according to Foothill Transit. Azusa police reported that ``officers have cleared the area and the streets are now open.'' It was not immediately known if any explosives were found.
