LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Police today sought information on a car-to-car shooting and a related hit-and-run crash that occurred in the Del Rey area of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Police Department officers responded about 1:20 a.m. on Nov. 21 to the 5000 block of South Slauson Avenue, near Culver/Slauson Park, on reports of the shooting and subsequent crash, but found the suspects had already fled the area, according to a department statement.
Officers obtained surveillance video from the area and discovered that a blue 2014 to 2016 Hyundai Elantra with exterior neon lights was driving in the area about 1:15 a.m. when the occupants of the vehicle exchanged gunfire with a sliver car, possibly an Infiniti G35.
Further video evidence revealed to police that the blue Hyundai crashed into a pick-up parked in front of the recreation center, though it was not immediately known if the crash occurred before or after the shooting, according to the LAPD.
Video footage also captured a small white SUV or crossover style vehicle and black sedan chasing both the Hyundai and the silver car. During the chase, video footage captured the sound of a second car-to-car shooting believed to have occurred near the intersection of Culver Boulevard and Slauson Avenue, though it was not known which of the vehicles were involved in that shooting.
It was not immediately known if any of the occupants of the vehicles were struck were gunfire, though investigators learned a stray bullet went through a living room window of a nearby occupied apartment.
No occupants of the apartment were injured in the shooting, though the LAPD said the collision into the parked pickup left the owner without a means to support his family.
