The "projectile" that killed a cinematographer and injured a director on the set of the film "Rust' was actually a bullet, New Mexico authorities revealed on Wednesday.
- Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza says following last Thursday's tragic accident, doctors removed a .45 caliber lead slug from director Joel Souza's shoulder. Investigators have since seized boxes containing more than 500 rounds of ammunition from the film set, Mendoza says.
- Assistant director David Halls and film armorer Hannah Guitierrez-Reed have both claimed to have checked the gun to make sure it was loaded with "dummies' before Baldwin fired the weapon during a dress rehearsal, Mendoza says. Investigators are still trying to determine how live ammunition ended up in the gun, he adds.
