LA VERNE (CNS) - Ramona Middle School in La Verne was open for classes today after an investigation determined that an apparent threat was “non-credible,'' authorities said.
“After school let out (Monday) a report was made to the Bonita District Office of a threat against Ramona Middle School,'' James Ellis, the principal of the school at 3490 Ramona Ave., said in a letter to “Ramona Families'' on Monday night.
“Several students heard the threat as they were walking home from school, which another student made,'' Ellis wrote. “The Ramona administration began an investigation into the incident, and the La Verne Police Department was made aware of the threat.''
According to Ellis, police “went to the student's home to ensure there was no means to act on the threat and investigate the allegation,'' and determined it to be non-credible. The nature of the threat was not disclosed by school officials.
The campus opened on Tuesday morning, with beefed-up security in place.
Ellis said that “out of an abundance of caution, the LVPD will have a presence on campus before and after school to ensure safety and order.''
