LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was unchanged today, remaining at $4.392, one day after rising one-tenth of a cent.

The average price is 1.3 cents higher than one week ago, 4.3 cents more than one month ago and $1.188 greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has risen $1.16 since the start of the year.

The Orange County average price dropped by one-tenth of a cent to $4.361, one day after rising one-tenth of a cent. The average price is 1.2 cents higher than one week ago, 4.6 cents more than one month ago and $1.172 greater than one year ago. It has risen $1.153 since the start of the year.

The average price is increasing more slowly due to less vacation-related travel with school beginning, worries about rising coronavirus infections and the price of West Texas intermediate crude oil dropping below $70 per barrel from its 2021 high of more than $74 per barrel, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.

West Texas intermediate crude oil was around $42 per barrel in August 2020.
