POMONA (CNS) - A Los Angeles police officer and two other men who allegedly orchestrated an illegal gambling operation in which participants placed high-dollar bets on the outcome of the Super Bowl pleaded not guilty today to bookmaking charges.
Robert Felix -- a 13-year Los Angeles Police Department veteran who was last assigned to the LAPD Transit Services Division -- was assigned to his home with no police powers while the investigation continues, the LAPD announced earlier this month.
Felix, 50, is charged along with co-defendants Francisco Martin Del Campo, 52, and Gabriel Martin Del Campo, 50.
The charges stem from an extensive investigation by the LAPD's Special Operations Division in partnership with the California Department of Justice's Bureau of Gambling Control and the California Alcoholic Beverage Control, according to the LAPD.
