Bell Gardens Police Shoot Two Suspects, Both in Stable Condition

BELL GARDENS (CNS) - Sheriff's homicide detectives today are continuing their investigation into the shooting of two suspects by Bell Gardens police.

The shooting occurred at 9:10 p.m. Saturday in the 7600 block of Garfield Avenue, said Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff's Information Bureau. Paramedics transported both suspects to an area hospital, where they were listed in stable condition. A handgun was recovered at the scene of the shooting.

Bell Gardens police officers were responding to a “vandalism now" call, when an officer spotted the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Two suspects exited the vehicle, with one of them armed with a semiautomatic handgun, the Sheriff's Information Bureau reported.

“Upon seeing the suspect holding the handgun, an officer-involved shooting occurred," according to a news statement. “Both suspects were struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital, where they were listed in stable condition."

No Bell Gardens police officers were injured during the shooting.
