Man Leaves $3K Tip on Beer Tab for Restaurant Closing Due to COVID

The tip on a tab for a single tap netted one Cleveland restaurant an extra $3,000.

Brendan Ring is the owner of Nightown restaurant which was set to voluntarily shut down last weekend due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

When he noticed the credit card receipt for a $7.02 tab was padded by a more than 40,000% tip, he was sure it was a mistake. Ring followed the man out of the restaurant where the patron assured him the bill of sale was correct.

He wished the restaurant owner well and said he'd return when they reopened and requested he share the generous gratuity with the four servers who were working that day.

Ring said he and his staff were "humbly grateful for this incredibly kind and grand gesture."
