LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped four-tenths of a cent today to $3.203, one day after increasing one-tenth of a cent.
The average price has dropped five of the past seven days, decreasing 1.6 cents, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It was unchanged on Saturday.
The average price is 1.8 cents less than one month ago and 83.9 cents lower than one year ago when prices were rising sharply because of diminished supply primarily caused by unplanned maintenance issues at the Chevron and Marathon refineries in Los Angeles County and the absence of imported gasoline.
The average price has decreased 41.2 cents since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price dropped one-tenth of a cent to $3.17, the seventh decrease in the past eight days. It has dropped 2 cents over the past eight days, including one-tenth of a cent on Sunday.
The Orange County average price is 1.9 cents less than one week ago, 3.2 cents lower than one month ago and 85.4 cents cheaper than one year ago. It has decreased 37.5 cents since the start of the year.
