Burbank Police Arrest Man on Suspicion of Attempted Murder

BURBANK (CNS) - A Tujunga resident was in custody today for allegedly shooting a man who remains hospitalized but is expected to survive, Burbank police reported.

Gevorg Hovhannisyan, 34, was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the shooting that occurred about 6:15 p.m. Monday near Sunset Canyon Drive and Providencia Avenue, according to Lt. Claudio Losacco of the Burbank Police Department.

Officers sent to the shooting scene found a 39-year-old man in the front yard of a residence suffering from several gunshot wounds to his lower body, Losacco said. The man, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital for surgery and is listed in stable condition.

“Investigators have determined this was not a random act of violence. The suspect and victim know each other,'' the lieutenant said, but did not disclose a motive for the shooting.

Hovhannisyan was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, and was being held on $2 million bail, Losacco said.
