LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose nine-tenths of a cent today to $2.859, one day after a five-day streak of increases totaling 2.7 cents ended with a decrease of one-tenth of a cent.
The brief streak of increases came after the average price decreased 65 times and was unchanged four times in a 69-day span, dropping 74.5 cents to its lowest amount since Jan. 1, 2017, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 3.7 cents more than a week ago but 9.5 cents less than a month ago and $1.217 lower than one year ago. It has decreased 75.8 cents since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price rose for the seventh consecutive day today, increasing two-tenths of a cent to $2.809. It has risen 3.9 cents over the past seven days, including two-tenths of a cent on Monday, after dropping on 68 of the previous 70 days to its lowest amount since Dec. 28, 2016, decreasing 74.9 cents.
The Orange County average price is 11.7 cents less than one month ago and $1.236 lower than one year ago. It has dropped 73.6 cents since the start of the year.
