LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Two Los Angeles police officers were examined at a hospital for possible fentanyl exposure during the arrest of a drug suspect but apparently are OK, authorities said today.
The incident occurred about 7:20 p.m. Sunday at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, where the officers had detained the man on a narcotics investigation, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
The suspect, who was arrested, also was examined at a hospital. Information on his identity or condition was not released. It was not confirmed that the man was in possession of fentanyl.
It was the second time in two days that LAPD officers came upon possible fentanyl during an investigation.
About 11 a.m. Friday in North Hollywood, two LAPD officers and a supervisor were taken to a hospital as a precaution after they came upon fentanyl while checking a car during a weapons investigation near Lankershim Boulevard and Hesby Street.
One suspect was taken into custody, and while searching a vehicle, officers found an open container with fentanyl inside, police said.
