LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped three-tenths of a cent today to $3.30, one day after decreasing a half-cent.
The average price is 1.1 cents more than one week ago but 12.8 cents less than one month ago and 4.1 cents lower than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The Orange County average price dropped eight-tenths of a cent today for the second consecutive day to $3.261. It is nine-tenths of a cent more than one week ago but 12.2 cents less than one month ago and 4.3 cents lower than one year ago.
Higher prices are expected with the shift to summer blend gasoline, expected to begin next week, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
“Last week, Oil Price Information Service reported that the region's major gasoline pipeline will begin shipping `summer blend' gasoline on or around Jan. 29,” Spring said. “Once that blend arrives at stations, it adds at least 12 cents a gallon to the cost of gasoline.”
