LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Strong winds will blow across Los Angeles County this morning, forecasters said.
A wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service will be in effect until noon in the San Gabriel Mountains, the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational area, the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys, the L.A. County coast, beach cities, metropolitan Los Angeles, Downtown L.A. and the Hollywood Hills. While the advisory is already in force in most L.A. County areas, it will begin along the coast and in Los Angeles only at 6 a.m.
Forecasters said winds of between 15 and 30 miles per hour will blow in the areas subject to the wind advisory, gusting at up to 45 mph.
“Gusty winds will make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles,' warned an NWS statement. “When driving, use extra caution. Be prepared for sudden gusty cross-winds.”
The NWS forecast sunny skies in L.A. County today and higher temperatures -- 61 degrees on Mount Wilson; 62 in Lancaster; 63 in Palmdale; 68 in Avalon and Saugus 72 at LAX; 73 in Pasadena and Burbank; and 74 in Downtown L.A., Long Beach, San Gabriel and Woodland Hills.
Sunny skies were also forecast in Orange County, along with highs of 56 on Santiago Peak; 66 on Ortega Highway at 2,600 feet; 66 in San Clemente; 68 in Laguna Beach; 70 in Newport Beach; 71 in Fremont Canyon; 72 in Trabuco Canyon; 74 in Yorba Linda; 76 in Fullerton and Mission Viejo; and 77 in Anaheim and Irvine.
Temperatures will remain roughly at the same level in L.A. and Orange counties under sunny skies through at least Wednesday.
