LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose four-tenths of a cent today to $3.675 after increasing by one-tenth of a cent for three consecutive days.
The average price is four-tenths of a cent more than one week ago, 6 cents higher than one month ago and 50.6 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has risen 52.3 cents since the start of the year because of higher oil prices.
The average price had changed by one-tenth of a cent seven of the previous eight days.
The Orange County average price rose a half-cent to $3.621, one day after increasing one-tenth of a cent. It is six-tenths of a cent more than one week ago, 7.9 cents higher than one month ago and 48.5 cents higher than one year ago. It has risen 50.5 cents since the start of the year.
“Local gasoline demand continues to be strong while refineries are making less fuel as they convert to production of winter-blend gasoline that can be sold in pumps starting Nov. 1,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager. “Those factors have prevented prices from dropping.”
