National Museum Of Brazil Goes Up In Flames

A massive fire Sunday night destroyed much of the 200-year-old National Museum of Brazil.

The flames broke out at Rio De Janiero's 'Museu Nacional' after the museum had closed for the day, destroying countless artifacts and other historical treasures.

President Michel Temer called it 'a sad day for all Brazilians' and that '200 years of work, investigation and knowledge have been lost'.

Officials don't yet know the cause of the fire or whether anyone was injured.

The museum, which was founded in 1818, had reportedly fallen into disrepair in recent years.
