LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Individuals and organizations interested in writing arguments concerning the city of Los Angeles' measures to appear on the November statewide general election ballot must submit requests by Aug. 3, City Clerk Holly L. Wolcott announced today.
The City Council has approved three measures to appear on the November ballot, including one in which voters will be asked if they want the city to form its own bank. The two others involve moving the primary election dates for city and Los Angeles Unified School District contests from June to March, beginning in 2020, to coincide with the state's primary, which has also been moved.
City Council President Herb Wesson will designate applicants from the request pool to be considered by the City Council's Rules and Elections Committee at a special meeting on Aug. 7. Ballot arguments in favor of and against the measures will be published in the voter information pamphlet which is provided to all registered voters in the city of Los Angeles.
Applicants must submit requests to argue for or against a measure to Wesson's office no later than 5 p.m. on Aug. 3.
