Brush Fire Burning in Stevenson Ranch Area

STEVENSON RANCH (CNS) - Amid triple-digit temperatures, a brush fire erupted in the hills above Stevenson Ranch today, quickly spreading across at least 10 acres.

 The fire was reported shortly after 1 p.m. near the 26000 block of Pico Canyon Road, according to the county fire department.

 Air crews were sent along with ground crews to battle the flames. No structures were immediately threatened, but some workers at an oil field in the area were evacuated.

 The temperature in the area was reported at 106 degrees when the fire broke out, with winds of about 15 mph.
