LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped a half-cent today to $3.648, the eighth consecutive decrease after rising eight-tenths of a cent the previous two days.
The average price has dropped 2.8 cents over the past eight days, including a half-cent on both Wednesday and Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 2.4 cents less than one week ago and 5.7 cents lower than one month ago but 74.6 cents higher than one year ago. It has risen 49.8 cents since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price dropped two-tenths of a cent to $3.592, the seventh decrease in eight days. It is 2.2 cents less than one week ago and 7.4 cents lower than one month ago but 72.5 cents higher than one year ago. It has risen 47.6 cents since the start of the year.
“After a two-week pause, gas prices have resumed dropping locally on news of healthy fuel supplies in California and a reduction in oil prices over the past week,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
