Flight Surgeon Killed By Spinning Copter Blade

An investigation continues after a Navy lieutenant was killed by a spinning helicopter blade at Camp Pendleton.  The accident was first reported Wednesday around 6 p.m.  Military officials say 32-year-old James Mazzuchelli was struck by the Venom copter's spinning tail rotor blade.

The Navy flight surgeon from Orange Park, Florida was pronounced dead yesterday morning at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.  The utility helicopter was on a flight deck at the time of the incident.  Mazzuchelli was commissioned in the Navy in June 2010.
