Democrats Resond To Governor's Proposed Budget

Democrats are responding to Governor Jerry Brown's proposed 2018-2019 budget.  California Senate President pro tem Kevin de Leon applauded the governor for bringing the state's budget reserve to ten-percent of the total state budget.  de Leon adds there is some uncertainty with the Children's Health Insurance Program and the state needs to be ready to protect Californians who may be affected as a result of Congress' incompetence.

Senator Holly Mitchell, who chairs the Senate Budget Committee, said she looks forward to working with Brown's administration to ensure they continue to make investments in the people of California.

Brown's more than $131-billion budget incorporates about $4,600 per student in K-12 school funding.  More than $4.5 billion in gas tax revenue have been set aside for planned transportation improvements.
