Mudslide Fears In SoCal After Fires

Folks in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties are now living in fear of mudslides.  Flames from the devastating Thomas Fire left the hillsides barren, and now crews are using heavy equipment to clear any debris that might be left over.  Experts say the black-gray hillsides will become ashy waves of floodwater with the first major rain of a so far bone-dry season.

Public work crews are now frantically cutting down dead or doomed trees and bulldozers are scooping up debris in  flood channels.  Forecasters say there shouldn't be any significant rainfall for the next three months.
