Homeowners Advised To Pay Full Property Tax Bill Before January 1st

California homeowners might be wise to pay off their property taxes for the full fiscal year before 2017 ends.  The new tax bill limits state and local tax deductions to $10,000 starting in 2018, which is less than the annual taxes on a median-priced home in San Francisco.

Alameda County's tax collector has issued an official advisory for homeowners to consider paying the second installment now even though it's not due until April.  But tax experts advise checking with your CPA because if you're subject to the alternative minimum tax this year, you won't be able to take the full deduction anyway.
