LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Emmy-winning actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus revealed today that she's been diagnosed with breast cancer.
In a post on her Twitter page, the ``Veep'' and ``Seinfeld'' actress wrote, ``1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I'm the one.''
``The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union,'' she wrote. ``The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let's fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.''
She did not provide further details of the diagnosis.
Earlier this month, the 56-year-old actress won a record-setting sixth consecutive Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series for her work on HBO's ``Veep.'' She has won a total of 11 Emmys in her career, including a lead actress honor for ``The New Adventures of Old Christine'' and a supporting actress prize for ``Seinfeld.''
The New York native has been married to actor/writer/director Brad Hall since 1987.
