911 Audio Released from Georgia Tech Student Killed by Police

The Georgia Tech officer that shot and killed a student is now under investigation for use of force.

Authorities say Scout Schultz was carrying a knife, which was later found to be a folded multi-purpose tool, and when asked to drop it Schultz refused.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says the officer who took the shot, Tyler Beck, is now on paid leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

The GBI says Schultz left three suicide notes in a dorm room and called 911 on an armed man:

Protests broke out after a vigil was held in Schultz's honor that began peaceful with candles and eulogies.

Afterwards, dozens of mourners went to the campus police headquarters marching under a banner that read "Protect LGBTQ".

From there, a witness said is when "all hell broke loose."

A police SUV was seen on fire, an officer had a head injury and countless others were screaming as another officer chased and wrestled a man to the ground.
