Couple Found Shot to Death in Chatsworth

LAPD detective Dave Peteque speaks with the media about the shooting.

A man and woman in their 70s were found shot to death inside a townhouse in Chatsworth Monday.

The LAPD said it was being investigated as a possible murder-suicide.

Police and firefighters found the bodies after a 9-1-1 call reported a death or shooting around 7:00 a.m. in the 10400 block of Canoga Avenue.

"We do know that we have one female and one male, both elderly in age, with apparent gunshot wounds," said detective Dave Peteque.

He said even though the incident appeared to be 'one thing,' no determination on the circumstances could be made until a more thorough investigation was done.

Neighbors in the complex said they did not hear any shots.

Some said they often saw the couple - as their unit was adjacent to the pool.
