Colorado man arrested for removing transgender woman's testicles...It didn't go too well

(James Pennington - Denver Police Department)

57-year-old James Pennington from Colorado was arrested after he used an Army surgical kit to castrate a transgender woman in her apartment.

Pennington told police he agreed to perform the procedure at the victim's apartment in Denver. He removed the testicles and sutured the opening while the woman's wife watched the 90-minute surgery.

The surgical kit contained a scalpel, lidocaine, medical dressings, and other medical equipment.

About 3 hours after the castration, the wife called 911 because blood started pouring out of the incision.

The testicles could not be reattached because of the lag between the procedure and the 911 call. Pennington was arrested  on suspicion of 1st degree assault causing serious bodily injury and is in jail without bond.

It turns out Pennington is a pilot for ExpressJet Airlines. So he does castrations in his spare time?

What a weirdo.

It sounds like he got the job done, hopefully the victim will be able to recover okay.

The victim blamed "society" and the "healthcare system" on the botched surgery:

"I am not a victim of 57 year old James Lowell Pennington who is the suspect in this case. I am a victim of a society and healthcare system that focuses on trying to demonize transgender people and prevent us from getting the medical transition we need instead of trying to do what is best for us. Arranging a back-alley surgery was out of pure desperation due to a system that failed me.

As long as this system continues in its present form there will continue to be events like this. Until this system is fixed and transgender people are encouraged and able to get the care we need, there will always be cases like me."

You can blame the "system" all you want. It's still not smart to have surgery done by a pilot in your apartment.
