Pomona police arrest 9 people in human trafficking and prostitution sting

Nine people were arrested on Thursday for their part in a human trafficking and prostitution sting in Pomona. 

The sting went down in the Holt Avenue corridor in Pomona which police say is a hotbed of illegal activities like prostitution and drug dealing. Uniformed and undercover officers worked on the operation that resulted in the arrest of nine people who are suspected of engaging in prostitution or loitering with the intent to commit prostitution according to Pomona police Corporal J. Martinez. 

The arrested were identified as 26-year-old Guadalupe Mendoza-Zavala of  Pomona, 31-year-old Cesar Islas-Lazcano of Pomona, 30-year-old Juan Razo of  Montclair, 57-year-old Danny Mosqueda of Pomona, 27-year-old Marvin  Betancoperez of Montclair, 40-year-old Jose Zuniga of Ontario, 31-year-old  Braulio Urbina-Guzman of Ontario, 20-year-old Hazem Shekfa of Upland, and 25- year-old Myles Barreras of Pomona.

Police officers conducted the sting because of a series of complaints received from locals and business owners in the area. Martinez says the Pomona Police Department are taking a proactive approach to improving resident's quality of life.
