The recent storms dumping rain and snow all over the state have made a major impact on the drought.
Rushing water nearly caused the Oroville Dam emergency spillway to fail, neighborhoods in San Jose are under water, and Jerry Brown still won't declare the drought to be over.
It's over!
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, only 17% of the state remains in a drought. That's the lowest percentage since 2011 and for the first time since 2013, none of the state is listed in "extreme" drought.
Just 3 months ago 73% of California was in a drought. One year ago it was 95%.
Now, if only we had new reservoirs and other ways to collect all the water we're getting. Then things would be much better!
But sadly, and lot of our new water will wash out to the ocean because the government cares more about the stupid delta smelt than its citizens.
Sacramento, end the drought restrictions and invest in up-to-date water infrastructure, please!
