Riding The Bus Might Become Free For Everyone

Paying to hop on the bus may very well become a thing of the past. A nationwide movement for free bus fare is underway after Washington D.C. passed a policy that will make public buses free for everyone in the city starting July 1st. That momentum is getting carried into other cities like New York where some locals are calling on elected officials to get rid of fares altogether. Supporters of the movement argue public transportation is an "essential service" similar to police and firefighters. The real question is without people paying for fares how can public transportation sustain itself financially?

What do you think? Is this a cool new idea or a headache for cities and taxpayers?
