Man in Florida Attempts to Trade Car Back to Dealership He Stole It From

Police in Jacksonville responded to Lake City Chrysler Dodge Jeep after a man drove up to the dealership with a vehicle he intended to trade in for a new one.

To the man’s dismay, the car’s VIN was ran when the dealership sales staff went to give it an evaluation and was discovered to have been stolen from the very same dealership just days prior!

Police disclosed that once the man was read his rights, he admitted to having stolen the car. Additionally, the dealership’s security cameras showed the theft of the vehicle, but the perpetrator wasn’t identifiable. The 50-year-old Lake City man also said he was homeless. He’s been jailed and charged with grand theft auto, dealing in stolen property, criminal mischief and petty-theft.
