An 80-Pound Pet Cougar was Removed from NYC Apartment

An 80-pound cougar is headed to a rescue after being taken from a New York City apartment.

The 11-month-old female cougar named Sasha was surrendered by her owners, who investigators say purchased her out of state and raised her since she was a cub.

It was one of the owners themselves who called in for the rescue once they began to realize their environment was not a good fit for a big cat that was beginning to show signs of aggression.

Sasha spent the weekend at the Bronx Zoo receiving veterinary care and will be sent to enjoy her life at the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Arkansas.
