LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose one-tenth of a cent today to $4.404 -- its highest amount since Oct. 23, 2012.
The average price has risen six consecutive days, increasing 1.8 cents, including three-tenths of a cent Sunday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 1.8 cents more than one week ago, 3.9 cents higher than one month ago and $1.18 greater than one year ago.
The Orange County average price dropped two-tenths of cent to $4.367, its third straight slight decrease. It is 1.4 cents more than one week ago, 3.1 cents higher than one month ago and $1.16 greater than one year ago.
The average prices could soon increase in connection with rising crude oil prices prompted by Hurricane Ida. Crude oil costs account for slightly more than half of the pump price, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
