Alleged LB Hit-and-Run Driver Has Second Crash, Female Passenger Killed

  LONG BEACH (CNS) - A 40-year-old Lakewood woman died after the man driving the car she was in allegedly fled the scene of a collision today, then crashed into several things before the vehicle burst into flames.

  Long Beach police say that around 10:45 a.m., a 51-year-old Los Angeles was man at the wheel of a 1994 Buick Le Sabre and crashed, sped away and in the area near 10th Street and Long Beach Boulevard, he struck a parked 2008 Honda Accord, a street sign, a commercial gas line and a tree, then the car caught fire.

  The man did not have a valid driver's license and was not insured, police said. They did not immediately know if drugs and/or alcohol played a role in the crash.

  The names of the driver and the fatally injured passenger were not immediately released.

  The woman was treated by Long Beach Fire Department paramedics, but died at the scene, police said.
