Second Arrest Made in Connection with Deadly Drive-by Shooting in Pasadena

PASADENA (CNS) - A 27-year-old Pasadena man was jailed this morning on $2.4 million bail in connection with the drive-by shooting death of a Duarte man in May.

Dejon Ogletree was arrested Thursday by the U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force, according to Pasadena Police Department Lt. Jesse Carrillo, who did not disclose where Ogletree was taken into custody.

Task force team members found two guns during Ogletree's arrest, Carrillo said.

Ogletree and another man, Terrel Leonard Neal Jr., 26, of Pasadena, are charged with killing Ray Anthony Magee Jr. on May 23, while he sat in a car with another man in the 1500 block of Lake Avenue, near East Howard Street, police said.

The preliminary investigation indicated that Magee and the other man were stopped in the car when a late-model sedan pulled up behind them and someone inside fired multiple shots into their vehicle, according to Pasadena police Lt. Carolyn Gordon.

There were at least two suspects in the sedan, Gordon said.

“Detectives do not believe the shooting was random,'' Gordon said at the time and detectives were investigating whether the shooting was gang- related.

Paramedics took both victims to a hospital in critical condition, she said. Magee died three days later and the other victim was expected to recover, according to police.

Neal was arrested Dec. 29 and remains jailed on more than $2 million bail.
