LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose for the eight consecutive day today, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $3.19, its highest amount since Oct 18.
The average price is 3.9 cents more than one week ago and 4.7 cents higher than a month ago, but 45.2 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price in Orange County rose seven-tenths of a cent to $3.175, its sixth increase in the last seven days. It is 4.3 cents more than one week ago and 6.4 cents higher than a month ago, but 38.3 cents less than one year ago.
“Wholesale prices have pushed upward a bit and frankly, there's no specific reason for it other than increased futures trading activity,'' Marie Montgomery, a public relations specialist with the Automobile Club of Southern California, told City News Service.
“It's a small increase so far, but given the stay-at-home orders, it is unusual for prices to be rising and not falling.''
