SAN DIMAS (CNS) - Five shooting suspects were in custody this morning after the car they were in crashed in San Dimas while being pursued by authorities.
The chase started in Azusa about 8 p.m. Monday after authorities received a report of a shooting in the 600 block of East Lee Place, north of Azusa High School, said Azusa police Sgt. Nick Covarrubias. No one was injured in the shooting.
The driver of the white vehicle led police and the California Highway Patrol on a chase on the Foothill (210) Freeway and the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway from Azusa to Irwindale, then back to Azusa, passing through Baldwin Park and El Monte, Covarrubias said.
The chase continued at high speeds and the driver did not stop at stop signs or red lights, went through a red light on Arrow Highway, near West Cienega Avenue, and crashed into a turning vehicle about 8:30 p.m.
Three suspects ran from the vehicle and were caught a short time later. Two suspects stayed in the car after the crash and were arrested, Covarrubias said.
The suspects were only identified by Covarrubias as three men, a woman and male juvenile. The names and ages of the suspects were not disclosed.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics took a child in the vehicle that was struck to a hospital, as a precaution, Covarrubias said.
