Florida Police use Krispy Kreme Doughnuts to Capture Wandering Bear

Apparently, doughnuts are more than a favorite police treat...they're also an effective way to trap wildlife!

Florida animal control officers were able to humanely trap a bear roaming a neighborhood with nothing more than a box of Krispy Kremes.

A 250-pound bear was spotted wandering through the streets of Fort Myers and officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were called out to tranquilize it.

However, according to Officer Adam Brown, because tranquilizers usually don't take effect right away they decided using the gun wasn't their best option.

So officers decided to go with their secret weapon...Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

After putting a dozen in a trap, it took only moments for the bear to take the bait.

The bear was then loaded into a vehicle and taken to a state-managed wildlife area totally unharmed and well fed.
