LOS ANGELES (CNS) - An American Airlines flight from Los Angeles to New York made an emergency landing in Abilene, Texas, today due to an ``odor'' in the plane's cockpit, but no injuries were reported.
Flight 4 departed Los Angeles International Airport at 11:12 a.m. bound for John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. The plane was diverted to Abilene Regional Airport, touching down around 1:40 p.m. California time.
Media reports out of Texas suggested the plane, an Airbus A321, was diverted due to smoke in the cockpit. The airline, however, issued a statement saying the problem was ``an odor in the cockpit.''
``Our maintenance team is troubleshooting the issue,'' according to the airline.
Passengers were taken off the plane and, according to American's website, will be placed on another aircraft and depart Abilene en route to JFK around 4 p.m. California time.
