Berkeley has apparently decided to create an ordinance to replace some gender specific terms with more neutral words in the city code.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports the California city plans to remove the words “she” and “he” and replace them with “they,” also, the words “manpower” and “manhole” will become “workforce” and “maintenance hole.”
The vote passed unanimously to replace more than two dozen commonly used terms, so say goodbye to seeing things like “craftsmen”, "salesman" and "brother/sister" and instead only the words “craftspeople”, “salesperson” and "siblings".
