Torrance Woman, 21, Killed in Bahamas Shark Attack

TORRANCE (CNS) - A GoFundMe page was set up today to raise money to pay for funeral costs for a 21-year-old Torrance woman attacked by three sharks and killed in the Bahamas.

Jordan Lindsay was attacked Tuesday afternoon off Rose Island while snorkeling with family members, according to Royal Bahamas Police Force Deputy Commissioner Paul Rolle. Family members tried to warn her about the sharks, but she did not hear them, Rolle said.

Lindsay's right arm was severed and she also suffered bites to her arms, legs and buttocks, officials said.

Her mother, Kami Lindsey, tried to get Lindsey to shore but she had lost too much blood, according to NBC4.

The Loyola Marymount University student was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital.

“Her name was Jordan Lindsey -- we already miss her so much,” her father Michael Lindsay told NBC News. “She was so caring. She loved animals. It's ironic she would die getting attacked by a shark.”

Efforts were being made by the U.S. Embassy to return Lindsey's body to California.
