LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped 1.2 cents today to $4.09, one day after recording its largest daily decrease since Jan. 30, 1.3 cents.
The average price has dropped 3 cents over the past three days after being unchanged for three consecutive days. It is 3.2 cents less than one week ago but 14.4 cents more than one month ago and 36.4 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The Orange County average price dropped for the sixth time in seven days, decreasing 1.2 cents to $4.065. It has dropped 3.5 cents over the past seven days, including 1 cent on Thursday.
The Orange County average price is 14.8 cents more than one month ago and 37.7 cents higher than one year ago.
“In the last day or so we have seen significant price reductions of about 10 cents a gallon at Arco, Costco and Sam's Club gas stations, which are typically among the lowest-priced stations in the area,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
“More local refineries are coming back online and this has pushed down wholesale Los Angeles gasoline prices.”
