Inuit Parenting & Paternity Pics With The Dad Podcast

Ever lose your temper?

Of course you have.

Ever lose your temper with you kid?

Again, of course you have.

For most, that's just a part of being a person and a parent. However, that isn't part of being an Inuit parent.

According to Healthline, the Inuit parenting style heavily stresses composure, emotional regulation, and positive reinforcement.

What does that mean?

Essentially, they don't lose their temper. Well, at least not externally.

Instead, they focus on the positives, promoting good behavior and redirecting kids away from inappropriate or bad behavior.

Justin Worsham of The Dad Podcast doesn't think any of these things are necessarily bad, but it does put a lot of pressure on parents to be perfect all of time.

"I can totally understand why keeping calm while disciplining you child can have huge benefits. You are modeling emotional regulation, and experts say that kids pick up more of what you do than what you say.
The interesting part is that they use scary stories to teach their kids proper behavior. I find it fascinating that you could have a positive impact by maintaining control while model lying to to correct behavior. But, then again, my kids believe in the Tooth Fairy and Santa.
I think the important part is that parents understand losing your cool is a natural part of parenting. Just make sure that you aren’t getting physical when you lose your temper, and make sure you go back and reconnect. Apologize if you think you over reacted, but don’t if you didn’t. The experts I talk to say it is enough to acknowledge why you were upset. Remind yourself and your kid that you get upset because you care. My kids understand that I lose my temper and I understand they lose theirs. Doesn’t mean it is okay."

Yep.

It's a thing.

Apparently...

Maternity pics?

Old news.

Paternity pics?

All the rage!

Maternity photo shoots are nothing new, but these kinds of photo shoots sure are.

And, if you believe Fatherly, people love them and they're likely going to be around for a long time.

WHY???
