Early Thursday morning, President Donald Trump tweeted that he will have the FBI and Department of Justice review the Jussie Smollett case in Chicago. He also called the whole thing an "embarrassment" to our country.

On Tuesday, the case prosecutors suddenly dropped all charges against the actor, with little explanation. Smollett was facing 16 felony counts for filing a false police report in January. In return for the dropped charges, Smollett agreed to let the city keep his $10,000 bail, according to AP News.

"The public is entitled to know what happened and what's happening in this proceeding," media attorney Natalie Spears argued in Thursday's court hearing.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel also spoke out about the dropped charges, calling it a "whitewash of justice" on Tuesday.
