CALABASAS (CNS) - A man was fatally shot today at a campground in Malibu Creek State Park in Calabasas and sheriff's detectives were searching for whoever shot him.
The man died at the scene of the shooting, which was reported about 4:45 a.m. in the 1900 block of Las Virgenes Road, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. His name was withheld, pending notification of kin.
The victim was shot once in the upper chest, according to homicide detectives.``It appears that the victim was camping at the site with family members,'' according to the sheriff's department.No one else was injured, and no arrests were reported. The man reportedly was accompanied by his daughters, ages 2 and 4.A motive for the shooting was unknown at this time.
