Governor Brown's Chief Of Staff Dies

Flags are flying at half-staff in the state Capitol complex in memory of Governor Jerry Brown's chief of staff, often credited with turning his agenda into legislative action.  Fifty-nine year-old Nancy McFadden died at home in Sacramento Thursday night after battling ovarian cancer.

In a statement, Brown said "Nancy was the best chief of staff a governor could ever ask for.  She understood government and politics, she could manage, she was a diplomat and she was fearless."

Nancy was the best chief of staff a governor could ever ask for. She understood gov't & politics, could manage, was a diplomat & was fearless. Nancy loved her job & we loved her doing it. This is truly a loss for me, Anne, our office, Nancy’s family & close friends – & all of CA
